Carmen Amaya and her last goodbye
Carmen Amaya lived in Begur from 1961 until her death, on November 19th, 1963. The elderly people from Begur have always said that Carmen Amaya deserved a tribute “comme il faut” for everything she did for the village in the short time she lived in.
A generous and brave person, already very ill and without strength, offered a last dance to raise money for the illumination of the castle of Begur, which according to her "was very dark". She danced in front of great personalities and friends, who knew that this would be the “Captain's” last dance.
We propose a tour of her home, a visit to her exhibition and an audiovisual with pieces of her life, by the hand of a specialist guide very close to the “ bailaora”. This is our little tribute to the flamenco dancer.
We finish the tour with a nice local snack based on the Carmen Amaya traditions.
